hello lib,
it's just like diabetesmum said, you're feeling bad because your sugars have been
running a little high for too long, although there's a chance it could be down to
the change in medication. Your doctor will know best about either upping
your dose or giving you additional anti-diabetic medication.
Here's a few ideas to help with the highs until you see your doctor again:
First off you need to make sure you drink enough water, not gallons and gallons
but enough to keep well hydrated. Avoid drinking any caffeine as this
will tend to raise sugar levels.(Nicotine in Cigarettes has the same effect)
Secondly you need to avoid eating or drinking any fast acting
carbohydrates(sugars), things like biscuits, cakes, chocolate and coca-cola.
Slower acting carbs include pasta, brown rice and brown bread.
Also avoid any big meals - instead go for little and (reasonably)often.
Thirdly, unless you feel really unwell, then keeping physically active
may help lower blood sugars by boosting the effectiveness of your bodys insulin.
Finally, remember that any form of stress will tend to raise your blood sugar
levels - so don't get stressed out about the problem.
good luck,
timo
