i have been diagnosed as type 2 diabetic although for a while the doc was unsure but after quite a few tests it is confirmed im also having major issues with heat right now, i was unable to eat during the day while was warm and if i did it didn't stay down long but im not ill at all ive had all sorts of test done for infections or viruses but im all clear im getting really frustrated now as this has been going on for a month or so and im getting faint during the day and have to stop what im doing until it passes, im drinking plenty of fluids, but i now have my family pressuring me to eat (and i mean serious pressure) so i eat and the inevitable happens. what can i do ? i literally have no interest in food at all now and i cant get in at my doctors even the smell of food puts me off now ive tried everything i could possible think off including a bland diet, foods that are easily digested such as foods and vegetables but nothing helps please any one have suggestions?????? ( and im not pregnant just thought id add that in there)

I had a similar experience when I first took Metformin. In the list of possible adverse side effects it says something like "taste displacement". Are you taking Metformin? In my case lowering the dose fixed it.

I had another digestion issue when on my fourth statin. It was treated as gastro enteritis to cure it. Dry retching was what was happening.

If you are on any medication then check the bit of paper that comes in the box of pills.

I don't even know if you are on any pills but I just looked up the side effects of Metformin on the web just out of interest and they say vomiting etc. is very common.

"Very common: More than 1 in 10 people who take Metformin hydrochloride

  • gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain or loss of appetite - these problems may be prevented by taking Metformin hydrochloride during or after a meal"

Hi Wolverinekisses, as a T1 my knowledge is limited but I've read posts from many others about these sorts of symptoms using metformin (assuming that's what your taking.) I also know from these posts that there is s slow release version of Metformin available and many have reported uit to be beneficial in reducing these symptoms.

Welcome to the forum. Might be worth going back to your go to see what they can suggest. Hope you feel better soon

hey thanks for the suggestions yes i am on metformin and atorvastatin (id been on them quite a while when this started thanks for the suggest on the leaflet of doom tho) the doctor has found some lactose free meal replacement shakes to use during the day but recommended that i try not to get used to using them too frequently so i get up at 4 and have breakfast then and have a shake during the day and then a salad for my evening meal although i still feel ill after breakfast im managing ok during the day and on the upside im getting thinner im also now working with my dietitian too we think its a combination of things namely cause im awkward medically lol also they are wanting to send me to a therapist because they think it might be some psychological thing but i have gone through phases of not eating in the past but never this bad and not to the point where i was feeling ill with it but hopefully things will continue only to improve
