Hi and welcome. Is that the HBa1C in %? If so it's unusually low and would imply you aren't diabetic. Can you check the number?

It is low, even for many non-diabetics. Could it be 42 rather than 4.2?

Normal: below 42.
Prediabetes: 42 to 47.
Diabetes: 48 or Over.

Hi Paddy. Sounds like your readings are low due largely to your meds (and nay lifestyle changes you have made). I am guessing that you had a higher level at first diagnosis - as I ma pretty sure no doctor would put anyone on these meds with a reading of 4.2mmols...then again...there are some very odd decision made. What I'm saying is...if I understand your situation correctly, without meds your readings would be much higher?? What evidence do you have for this? Also..you say readings "kind of high" some mornings...what are they? Liver dump generally causes the body to gear up for the day and tends to increase the level a bit...so its not always the best reading to inform us. I'm okay if my morning level is under 6.5mmols...but I prefer to see 5.something. Anyway, if your HbA1c is 4.2 then you're doing fine (and are certainly in the non-diabetic/pre-diabetic range...)...I would just like to know what it was before meds were prescribed.

hopefully the hba1c shows up good in a few weeks time when i gets the bloods tested again
I have dropped sugar totally (did not take sugar in tea or coffee and seldom took desserts after dinner either)
But the carbs especially bread seem to get me..

Hi Paddy. Yeah 10 is a bit high...every morning? For how long? Might push that HbA1c average up into the diabetic range unless other readings are pretty low. Good on the sugar front...but you need to cut those carbs, mate. Bread was the one that I was most shocked at...that and cereal. Breakfast is now my most awkward meal to vary (presently smoked cheese slices and dried bacon strips with a bowl of all bran only every few days (if I am in a giving in frame of mind). Cutting the carbs though really is what will make the difference.
