Just joined this forum after browsing for a while. I am 46 years old and have had type 1 since I was 7 years old so I guess I'm an old hand although still learning, if that makes sense! I have 3 injections of Actrapid, one before each meal and have recently changed from Lantus to a new long acting insulin 'levemir' which I have twice a day, on waking and also at around 6pm. I'm still tweaking the dosage but I am getting there. I was also diagnosed with Coeliac disease around 2 years ago and have found this more hassle than the diabetes!I have 2 children, who are both grown up now.
I love travelling, clubbing, music, going to festivals, cooking and eating! I don't have any long term health problems so I'm very lucky. I've never let my diabetes stop me from doing anything I wanted and I like to think I run my life and not the other way around.
I hope I can contribute something useful and look forward to being part of the online community. 8)
