@Nicolabrown419 . Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear of your daughters recent diagnosis at an age that could along with other aspects of life become very challenging.
I personally can't offer to much practical advice in this situation but your post may benefit more in the Parents section of the forum.
I'll tag @DCUKMod who I'm sure would only be to happy to move your post if you want.

Good luck getting answers from some very knowledgeable people on the forum.

Hi and welcome to the forum @Nicolabrown419 .
I'm neither 12 nor female, but I can testify as to the effects of low and high sugar, on my moods! Add that to the normal stresses and strains of a growing teen and you have home-made fireworks! For what it's worth, I try to explain to whoever wants to listen, that I'm sorry for my short fuse, and I really don't mean anything by it, and it's over in an instant. But I really can't help myself. If your daughter can understand this, it may help her. Maybe.

Your thread is fine in this area of the forum, but you might get a few more responses from parents in the Parents section.

A normal family living a normal life then bang! I was 13 when my 15yr old sister was diagnosed type1, it didn’t really affect me at the time, just remember the tears and mood swings. Now fast forward 35 years and my sister is 50 and still going strong. 4 years ago her daughter, my niece was diagnosed at 15! Yes history was repeating itself! This happened a few months after the death of my Mum which hit us all very hard. My niece has struggled a little to come to terms with type 1 and I have tried to be as supportive as I can be since her Nan passed away. Then 3 weeks ago bang! I was diagnosed type2, now it’s nothing compared to my sister and niece but by god does it change everything. I suppose it’s only really now that I realise what my parents and sister went through and again my sister is dealing with all this and a divorce. I suppose it makes us stronger in some way. Good luck with it, it isn’t the end of the road even though it’s a s@@t
