Hi,
I've just joined the forum. My name is Ian, I live in the North West of England and I've been type 1 Diabetic for 54 years.
I mange my diabetes using the Omnipod pump system, which is great and I've recently started using the Freestyle Libra sensors which I don't find to be very accurate but I still find it useful for understanding trends and predicting hypo's.

We have a few Omnipod users here @himtoo, 54 years is certainly impressive, any tips for those who are starting out or struggling with their type 1 ?
 
Welcome Ian,

Regarding the Libre (make sure you use the "E". I think the "A" makes it a sanitary pad :)), what do you use to scan it?
I have used the Reader and the Libre Link app and came away thinking the same as you.
Then I read about Glimp which uses a different algorithm to calculate the interstitial fluid readings to BG reading which includes calibration against finger prick readings. I haven't looked back. The Glimp algorithm seems to suit my body better than the official Libre algorithm.
It is still not perfect and is further out when my BG goes higher than, say 8. But I confident enough to use it if I wake in the night and only check with finger pricks if it says something which will need correcting.

i also use omnipod and libre along with miaomiao and xdrip , which turn the libre into a full blown cgm with predictive functions and alarms ...

54 years and still going strong ... well done you !!

still working on getting to 47 years here !!

Many thanks for the welcome everyone.
It's difficult to think of any tips for helping with longevity!, but there's one thing that I will suggest, and that's to lay on the edge of your bed and windmill your arms around, do it every day and it will stop you from getting frozen shoulders. It does work.
