I am new to this forum but not newly diagnosed.
I am in my mid forties I was diagnosed in 1995 at a diabetes awareness stand in our local town hall.
I was initially on tablets but could not function on the tablets. So have been insulin treated since 1997(mostly twice daily humolog but changed this year to the long acting lantus and short acting apidra which has given me more freedom (although the lantus seems to stimulate wieght gain more than the humalog).
After the initial shock of diagnoses wore off and after a bit of fact finding I realised I had symptoms of diabetes for years before it was diagnosed which has now caused me a few complications such as eye problems and recently diagnosed charcot foot and a diabetes related stomach problem.
I have been reading this forum for a while but have just decided to join and it seems a great place to further my knowledge and share my experiences
