Hello and welcome
@AKAGregg
Well I'm going to start with some advice
The first thing I always recommend is that you get a glucose monitor. I will also recommend diet changes but you can't know if my recommendations are any good unless you can monitor your levels. The monitor is what will help you make decisions.
The second thing I am going to recommend is to lower your carb intake dramatically. I personally am strict keto but not everyone is and not everyone needs to have that strict a limit on carbs to keep their levels in the normal range. I do keto for a few reasons- I love carbs but find I crave them much less if I don't have any. I would find a higher level of carbs more difficult craving wise. It also means I don't have to be strict on my portions because I stick to things which have no carbs or almost no carbs. This includes meat, fish, eggs, cream, hard cheese, some vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli but I don't tend to have much of those. The monitor will help you make decisions about what to eat.
The third thing I would like to say is that many things beyond food effect our levels- stress, illness, lack of sleep and exercise all have an impact. all but the exercise are hard to control and the effect varies. I choose to control my diet because I can. I don't always find it easy but want to avoid any of the possible consequences from uncontrolled diabetes.
The last thing (so it isn't too long) is that you have found the best place on earth to get help, advice and most importantly support. Some of the most amazing people I've ever met I've met here. They have give me a lot of support and advice and I am very grateful.
Good luck and welcome.
