Hi
Been diagnosed with Diabetes 2 in September 2023 been trying to change my way of eating and thought I would get an app to help with Carbs/Sugar but after trying to research some of them and the amount they want each month to subscribe was wondering if anyone could recommend one. Many thanks in advance.

I use Myfitnesspal to record all my meals etc. I use the free one I find it’s enough for me. Be aware it’s peer reliant so sometimes the macros etc are incorrect.

I mainly cook from scratch so just add my own info, it takes a bit of time at first but you soon build up your own data base

I used the free version of Carb Manager for a while, but they did an upgrade which I don't like. Might be worth a look as first time user though.
Once I'd got used to low carb I find I don't need to monitor or calculate carbs, as long as I stick to simple real food and cook from scratch.

I also use MyFitnessPal and recommend the ability to save/re-use the details of your own meals and recipes. If it helps, I’ve attached some screenshots.

There’s another app you could try: Cronometer, which has a free version, although it will try its best to get you to pay!

Do you need an app? Personally I find the old-fashioned mode of looking myself at the base data (e.g. foodstuff contents and various descriptions of diet types and effects) much better at gaining an understanding about what to do and how to do it; and at judging the results.

It may sound rather harsh, but I feel that "apps" that hide the process and just give us an order about how to behave end up making us stupid. We're capable of being a lot more than just an externally-programmed flesh robot.
