Hi all
nice to find somewhere to pick knowledgeable brains!
A quick question, i'm thinking of trying low carb, high fat diet, can anyone tell me if Fresh Figs are allowed, I can only find conflicting info so i'm confused!

Thanks

Hi sugarTiger, the golden rule is "Eat to your meter" if you test your bs on waking then again before your main meal and again 2 hrs after....if your bs 's are still within the normal rangeImageUploadedByDCUK Forum1451240653.617145.jpg then carry on with it ....if not ditch it or cut back until it doesn't spike your bs's, most of the regular posters who have good bs control are on a low carb high fat regime . Fresh figs are slightly higher in carbohydrates that the usual very low carb fruits (e.g. berries) recommended on a low carb diet, so you will need to test to see how your body handles them as we're all different in this respect. I eat a very low carb diet, but do allow myself fresh figs occasionally as a treat when they're in season - one eaten with fresh cream as part of a main meal doesn't cause my glucose levels to spike very much.

PS Just don't go anywhere near the dried ones!!!
