Hi, I am new. My name is kenboyd and I was diagnosed Type 2 in January 1996. I have visited my doctor once and she couldn't or would not answer my very simple questions. The diabetic nurse said to me that she wished that she too was old so she could get away with being awkward. I felt I was being rushed into a whole gamut of procedures that I wanted to explore and get familiar with before I committed myself. I do not believe doctors know everything. I learnt with some horror that Avandia increased my mortality by 43% yet I was expecting my life to be saved! GSK, in defence of Avandia claimed all bs controllers worked in the same way so why pick on them? The FDA subsequently allowed Avandia to be prescribed! This suggests that GSK had it about right. The FDA is dominated by pharmas!
I have never taken an allopathic remedy for my Type 2. I use exercise and diet in the main. As it is a cardiovascular disease I look after my heart. Vitamin C, Co enzyme Q10, hawthorn and kombucha. I drink decaf green tea with cinammon ( delicious ) and if I suspect my bloods are too high I eat upto 6 cloves of garlic daily. I have been carted off to hospital for a heart episode. I have experienced a kidney episode and the doctor wanted me to drive myself 20 miles at 2 a.m. to go to see him! My eyes are clear. The pulses in my feet disappear and reappear. I walk upto 5 mile per day. I suffer from flatulence, sporadic constipation and general digestion disorders. Depression is not something I give into but I do wake up worrying that I am bucking the trend and need help. I am 71 years of age and read about glucotor v2 for the first time tonight. Any comments on its efficacy etc. I have tried Melabic but it seems to be losing its effectiveness. Diaxomol was a damp squib for me.
