am I right in assuming that meters can read differently?

I bought a new one a few weeks ago as I was worrying about the readings on my old one (I was getting lots of 1.0-2.0s quite randomly - at one stage 1.7 in one finger and 5.4 in another!!) but now I'm getting consistently higher than I'd anticipate. Usually my 'home from work' pre meal would be between 4.8 and 5.6. Now it's 5.7 - 6.4. Post meals are also showing higher .. I've had 2 above 8.5 which hasn't happened in a long time. My last 3 hba1cs have been 35, 31, 35 ... the last two since I've been off metformin, but the last one was October. due my six monthly check up in April

Any thoughts?

thanks for that, puts my mind at rest a bit. Don't like seeing the higher numbers though!!

Yes, I've found that too. The Accu-chek Nano I used for a short while gives consistently lower readings than my usual Contour XT, so I try to ignore the fact that I "looked better!" with the other one and watch my ups and downs instead.
