Type 2 new meter

Has any one come across a brand called Glucomen who supply meters. My surgery wants to 'upgrade' me to one of these but after looking at the meter on their web site it appears to me, to be a downgrade. the only advantage I can see is to the practice regarding the cost of the strips.

I don’t think you have much say in the matter if your surgery wants you to change meters. I was using an accu check meter some years ago which I liked as you put a barrel of strips in and didn’t have to fiddle about with single strips, then my surgery changed all diabetics onto the same meters.

i use a Glucomen Areo which was my mother in laws until the surgery swapped to a different brand. it works perfectly well for me, i pay about £8 for 50 strips.
