Just had a letter from surgery re my next diabetic check up. In the past I've had the appointment send with instructions to get blood test two weeks beforehand. Now I have the appointment to get my bloods done, the nurse will check my weight, waist (oh no) and feet. They will then send me the results in a booklet which I am to bring to my "care planning appointment". Will let you know how successful it all is next month (bloods etc on 14th Jan). I know some of you have problems getting your results from the surgery so hopefully this is something the surgery or NHS is trying out in our area which might be rolled out nationally.

Sounds a good plan.

My practice is registered on-line with Patient Access. I can currently see a few of my medical records, and by March 2015 will be able to see all my medical records, including all blood tests, current and historical, scan results and so on. They are very good at giving out test results over the phone, so no probs for me.

Ours uses something called system online. Can order repeat prescriptons and make appointments but I don't think we can look at records yet, but sounds a good idea

Went to see diabetic nurse on 14th Jan, and she did my blood tests and all the usual tests, feet weight, blood pressure etc. Got a letter today from the surgery with my results and comments from the nurse. HbA1c 45 (43 last year) comment excellent control. Blood pressure stable, Cholesterol 3.7 same as last year, Kidney ACR 1.3, was 1.1 last year should be under 3 so ok. So, that's me done for another year. I'm quite pleased with the BS particularly as we'd just got through Christmas. The only downer was that I've put on 4 kg since last year so a bit more effort in the gym and back on the diet.
