Not as tricky a question as you might think, however, you can do it providing you don't expect to do it overnight. That will not happen. You must start with your doctor and have a plan to lose 2 lbs per week - that makes the goal easier because then you know how many months/years it will take. Point 1. - Never Starve. Point 2. Always plan two weeks ahead so that you do not waste any food. Point 3. Make sure you have snacks. - While I do not have a great belief in counting calories - do it anyway. I count up to 600 for my meals (and allow another 1000 for things I really can't count - like dressings etc). I do stop at my 600 - can be done - did it - took two years - lost 70 lbs. Do not ever leave any food group out and I eat them all but limit meat to 2 oz per day and fish to 4 oz. Yes, I do have pasta - 2 oz with tomato based sauce. I love fruit & vegetables but count every single one - and space them two hours apart.
Snacks - try a couple of walnuts or popcorn - forget the celery sticks & carrot sticks because you can eat them all the time and anytime you want. For a little flavour might try a few pretzels (only a few).
I'm elderly and cannot do all the excercising some folk talk about but I do walk where & when I can but not to exhaust myself. That would be silly.
