Hi everyone,
I have just come out of hospital after having a medical review, unfortunately the
cardiology dept.decided not to change their side of my medication, but thanks to my diabetic
consultant,he has made an improvement by changing some meds.I'm now on metformin, Glimepiride, and inject myself with Liraglutide.I am type 2.
What I didn't realise is just how ill you can become,if you do not get it
under control, very much a mega wake up call.
A question I have is about diet. There are a lot of books out, which,if
any are the best ones to get?

Hi and Welcome to the forum :D I'm sorry you have been so poorly. Have you found the food and nutrition section of the forum yet? There is some good advice there. Have a read of this link to, it might be helpful to you.

Anymore questions etc please come back and ask. There is nearly always someone who can help :D

Welcome to the wonderful world of this forum. Ever answer I've needed has been here or I've asked a question and someone has helped - even when the question has been vague or daft. There is a wealth of advice just waiting.

Hope your health improves.

Hi penman, Welcome to us all here.
After being so ill and realising it is a factor to get some control with your diabetes.
Please just ask any questions you feel/need to, someone will help and support you along.
Hopefully now with a treatment plan in place with the meds and victoza [liraglutide] some control with your BG will gradually kick in.
As claire above has suggested we do have a food and nutrition thread where there will be loads of ideas, great suggestions there for you to browse through.
Hope this helps? Please pop back and let us know how you get on too.

Hi penman and welcome to the forum :) The link Claire posted for you contains very useful information to help you manage your diabetes as well as possible. It contains some diet advice. That is a start before someone comes along with some information on books on diet that you asked about. In the meantime you will probably find, along with a lot of useful tips, in the Food and Nutrition Forum that Claire and Anna have already mentioned, some references to the sort of book you are looking for.

Hi everyone,
A very big thank you to all who replied. I have borrowed Antony Worral Thompson's book
from the library, and will also be taking the very good advice that you have given. Am going to
restart swimming as I have been given go-ahead by cardiology dept. Will let you know. Thanks again, I am overwhelmed and extremely moved by the concern of other people, makes you feel that
you are not alone.
