Hi everyone,
I'm 32 years old, vegetarian and live in the Glasgow area.
I've just been diagnosed as having Diabestes near the start of April - they've not actually confirmed whether it's T1 or T2 yet, as due to my age there's a chance it could be either, although T2 is more likely. At my next blood test, they can hopefully say one way or another.
I already have some limited familiarity with the conditition as my mum has it, as did my gran. However, watching them dealing with it is completely different from experiencing it yourself.
I'm on 3 different medications for now, although I think the doctor plans to get me off the blood pressure pills and cholesterol pills as soon as she can. In the meantime, my main goals are to get fit, loose a lot of weight, and get used to eating healthy food all the time.
I already feel so much better (loads of energy!), even though I'm only on a quarter dose of the metformin. My appetite has vanished, I no longer crave all the unhealthy foods (or large portions!) so all my bad food choices have been down to lack of planning/sheer laziness. Which I'm doing my best to stop...getting one of the newer GL books delivered soon, as I think that eating plan will suit me. I'm going to start off with with that anyway, see how I get on.
Anyway, I'm off to have a look round all the sub-boards of the forum now, it looks like it's got a wealth of information there
