Scrap that I feel worser on the Bolamyn SR Metformin Hydrochloride after only one dose I'm silly dizzy, bloated, frequently having diarrhoea and my rear passage (no joke) feels numb what the hell have I put in my body. I'm never putting Metformin in my body again.
Cracker, I've never taken a medication for diabetes. And while I did read the entire thread, I don't know your history.
Is it still standard practice to put ALL type 2 diabetics on Metformin at diagnosis because the option of the LCHF diet still isn't considered? That's what happened to me in 2004, so I opted for no treatment, which was a poor choice on my part. Had I been told about the LCHF then, I would have done that.
Was starting a medication your only option at the time because medication was your only option? Or were you started on medication because that's what they always do in ALL cases?
You know the consequences of taking the medication. What would be the consequence of reducing or stopping the medication, and how would that be done, if only on a temporary basis to see what happens? I think this is an important conversation to have with your doctor.
Not speaking about diabetes, it's been my experience that stopping a medication is sometimes the only way to determine if it's helping you or hurting you. And in my experience, it can go either way.
Maybe you really do need to take medication, but the dosage needs to be adjusted or something else needs to be added. Or maybe you need to try a different medication. Or maybe, now that you're on the LCHF diet, you don't need it.
Wish I had a crystal ball and could tell you. Sorting these things out is a process of trial and error. I encourage you to engage your doctor in conversation about this again.
