Hi yes they are both unfortunate side effects of Metformin. If you are finding that it is a constant problem you might want to go back to your Dr and ask to go on Slow Release Metformin which is apparently much gentler on your stomach.
Thanks every body I will ask my Dr about it she does not seem to concerned but never had such a bad stomach for so long in my life lost 5 kilograms in 3 weeks not even trying. I am sure it can not be Wright.

Hi, I'm new to all this too and am on Metformin 500 twice a day. my first week was unbearable so I took matters into my own hands, carefully cut my tablet in half and spread them out over the day/evening. it worked. my own SR pills. I gradually moved the lunch half-tablet closer to the breakfast half, and the late half closer to the tea-time half. Took me about 3 weeks but it definitely worked and i'm on the normal two doses now.
