In the UK the medics try to bring levels down slowly to avoid more damage to the body.
What treatment have you been given and what have they said about following up?
20 is high but it is early days yet.

My assumption is 4 times a day insulin is basal/bolus.I assume you are not on the basal/bolus routine yet seen as you are taking tablets.
Hi KhayaHello to all. I'm a 28 year old male living in South Africa. My name is Khaya. I'm a personal trainer by profession and am quite fit. I was diagnosed with T1D seven days ago and spent 4 days in hospital critical care. I'm home now and trying to manage it as best I can.
I'm discouraged by my blood sugar levels. They're usually at around 20mmol. Is it common for a new diagnosis? Does it take time to settle to the correct levels or should I see a doctor? Please assist. And thank you for this forum.
