I have been type 2 since 2011 and initially maintained it through diet. Sadly I had to go onto steriods for 3 months for a siuspected health issue which was negative. However it affected my diabetes and I had to go on medication and have done since. I have had mixed reactions to all types of Medication which is annoying. Gliclazide was the original form provided but after a while I was experiencing odd numbness in my legs and arms. Unfortunately it was the most effective for me but it was decided to switch to Metformin slow release. Over the last two years I have slowly lost weight which didn't seem to bother anyone due to my age now 64. I was not overweight in the first place so now I have what I call "chicken legs". I spoke to someone on holiday who had experienced similar weight loss so changed to Gliclazide slow release and has not looked back and weight (good kind) has returned. I am feeling anxious now as although I seem to have stablised I look a bit drawn. I feel I need an overhaul to look at what options are available. I tried insulin injections but the first one ( only a small dose) made my legs go suddenly trembly and weak - weird so it was stopped. With the present metformin I seem now to be having cramp on occasions in my calfs and feet. Just wondered if anyone else has been sensitive to medications and how they got around it.
