Hi,
I have recently been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. After going in to the opticians with a headache - turns out I have work related stress, high BP and diabetes. What a fun last couple of weeks its been!!
Anyway I did ask a lot of questions but as you always do I have thought of a few more since, esp as I have been researching. I do have an appointment with the dietitian in a week or two so if need be I will ask her but was hoping for some further info:
Thanks in advance
I have recently been diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. After going in to the opticians with a headache - turns out I have work related stress, high BP and diabetes. What a fun last couple of weeks its been!!
Anyway I did ask a lot of questions but as you always do I have thought of a few more since, esp as I have been researching. I do have an appointment with the dietitian in a week or two so if need be I will ask her but was hoping for some further info:
- Since pretty much cutting out sugar I have found the tendency to be very hungry late afternoon, some times feeling a little light headed - is this normal? Do you get some sort of effects when you rapidly cut your sugar intake?
- What cold medicines can I take - I am currently suffering!! Do I have to just look out for the ones with sugar in or are there other chemicals I need to keep an eye out for?
- I have read about people getting issues with low blood sugar - I assume these are reactions to taking meds/insulin and having "too much" running around, or am I mistaken. While I did not exercise regularly I did (and still plan to) go out on very long walks up mountains. I used to take one or at the most two of the isotonic sports drinks while doing this to help avoid cramp. I was told keeping a even blood sugar level is important. I know it sounds like a stupid question but should/can I still use these? I always put them in my camel back with water/squash diluting them and generally sip so its not like I'd down a bottle and get a massive rush.
Thanks in advance
