Hi, I was diagnosed as Type 2 in September, with F glucose of 12 & HbA1c of 10.
Declined medication and have followed low carb diet (<60g/d) and eaten only low GI foods since then. Can't be bothered with either cal or carb counting, though I know roughly what my daily intake is.
Bought meter & strips and monitored effect of food for couple of weeks to find out what pushed glucose up.
Yesterday HbA1c was 6 and T chol 3 ( previously 5.5). Average fasting glucose now just over 5
For some reason, Nursie not too pleased that I was testing, but as I used to be a Biochemist, I said that that is what I did, and would continue to do so.
She lost interest when she discovered I bought my own strips.
GP practice is frankly useless, & only interested in ticking treatment plan boxes - didn't see dietician until November and still no sign of Desmond at all.
Not to be seen again for 6 months, though I got them to concede another HbA1c in 3 months.
Will have to see how things develop
