Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone has been trying the new weight watchers plan and how are they finding it? I started 2 weeks ago after finally coping on that I need to sort out my diet and blood sugars, 3 years after I was told I had type 2. Better late than never!!! So this is it. A new year and a new me. I'm going to shift some weight, get in control of my sugars and stop fooling myself!

I tried the old ww many years ago. At the time I had gained 30 kilo due to hypothyroidism, not that I knew, nor did my Dr. What has worked for me since was thyroid meds and a high fat diet low in carbs. I still need to loose some, but not much. And I find I need to keep low carb to control blood sugar.

Did I say I lost some weight on ww but gained more?

I lost 2 1/2 stone with weight watchers 10 years ago and only put half a stone back on in that time. It is possible to adapt it and follow a low carb diet with it too. I have been following a low carb diet on my own this time using "my fitness pal" - my blood sugars are much better and I have lost 11 pounds since he beginning of
November, so has DH.

I have just enrolled with WW tonight. I am a little concerned because I am from the low carb line of thinking and certainly the "Simple Start" let's you eat anything from the Filling and Healthy Food List - no counting or tracking. This is for up to two weeks.

My plan is to simply look for the lowest carb options and simply avoid bread and potatoes etc... I will post here again with my progress from time to time.

I lost 3 stone very easily on WW about 30 years ago but the diets have changed a lot since then. I think the secret is to adapt it to suit your personal preferences. What it did teach me was about "red light" foods and to discover what your own red light foods are. Some people can gain weight just by looking at a piece of cheese, whilst others can eat it till the cows come home and not gain. My own red light food sadly was wine. One incident that has always stuck in my mind was when the instructor had banged on about how losing a single 1lb was good and that she would bring in a 1lb of fat the following week. We all expected her to bring a 1lb of lard, but no! It was a cow's udder!! Just showed us though that a 1lb of fat lost is a lot.
