Hey guys, my name is Jennifer (Jenny or Jenna for short)
i'm a type 1, ever since i was 5, this upcoming november will be 12 years i've had diabetes. i'm 17.

so yeah...

new to this website, im not even from the UK, but somehow i ended up on this website, some other website sent me here instead of the US one, but it would be nice to talk to people form europe.
 
Hi and welcome. There are many non-UK members and we all share the same problems. Do ask any questions here or on the T1 forum but I suspect you may be able to offer advice as well
 
Hello and welcome Jenny, non UK members are most welcome here and your welcome to use the forums for any issues you have. No doubt being a Type 1 since 5 you're probably more experience with diabetes than a lot of us lol

@novorapidboi26 well, i believe how you check your blood sugar over there in europe is different, like you guys will have "4.5" but here in the US, i don't have decimals, they just come out like regular numbers, like "116" if that is how it is in europe, i saw a video of a woman who is from england and her blood sugars come out in decimal form, so i wasn't really sure about that. Um my endo appointments are usually every 1-2 months, not because of my a1c, but he likes to make sure i'm taking care of myself, my a1c currently is 7.2 which my doctor considers it a little high, but i dont think its that different.

Welcome I am not an expert on the numbers.and it is only in the last 4 months I found out the difference between my test kit readings and a1C which is supposed to equate to a 3 month average.

The a1C in Australian labs is going to change scale but on the old scale the low end readings were similar to my home meter but as the numbers rise they get further apart. a1C of around 6.4 actually equated to 8 + on my home meter and the higher they go the further apart they become.I am not sure what your 7.2 equates to but my guess is up around 10 .

6.3 a1C will be about 48 on the new scale. 48 is too low for insulin users (risk of going too low) but for non insulin users it could be lower. (according to my specialist)

I am sure it will be on the net somewhere, but I do not need to know so I have not bothered to look it up.
 
On meters, 5.5 eu is 100 on us meters
Then you have the a1c which are different scales again.
