Hi, i had pancreatitis about 18 months ago and it has left my with type 1 diabetes but it is still not under control. I am on novomix 30 with a dosage of 24 twice a day, i have had a good few hypos and my bs have been as high as 24. I am in touch with the diabetes nurse who told me to lower the dose, i was on 26 and 28 but still no better, tonight i had a reading of 19.2 i am so fed up with all this and thought it would have settled down by now. Anyway i am here to learn so will start reading and hope i can pick up a few things to help me sort myself out.

Hi nifty.
Welcome.

Have a good look around and ask questions when you are ready. I am sure some T1's will be along to welcome you to the fold very soon. Take a look in the T1 section too.

Hi, I am new to this forum too. I was rushed to hospital in late January this year and in critical ward for 2 days. The outcome of this was that I suddenly had Type 1 diabetes. Very unusual at my age apparently, in my 60's.
I also use Novamix 30. Have now got the dose fairly steady at 8 pre-breakfast and 16 pre evening meal with average blood sugar levels of around 7.9. I found that eating an oatcake/flapjack of some sort mid morning and another one prior to bed time helped to steady things out.
It does take a time to learn how to manage the insulin and the diet. And quite often, just when you think you have it sussed, it goes a bit haywire again.
