Hi I purchased a couple of gammon steaks foe me and my mum cause she loves em and the carb count is good for me. I want to cook them in the oven cause out grill is next to useless but the oven works a lot better.

The steaks weigh 125g each and I was just wondering how long to oven cook them for and whats the best temperature to use on an electric oven. Sorry if its a dub question but I haven't cooked these before.

They are better on a flat griddle or in a frying pan if you don't have a griddle. They don't take long either since they are a big bacon rasher really and if the frying pan is not big enough for two then doing them one at a time is still quick.

In the oven I would do the first in tinfoil then take it off in the last 10 mins to let it brown, shouldn't take more than 30 max I would say, cook them with some sliced garlic on top for that added flavor.....and don't forget the fried eggs on top :)

I have sliced pineapple on mine as well as the egg.

You always get a choice when eating out and rarely get both, myself I always opt for the eggs :)

Not a lot to add but as was said above..use foil for the majority of the cooking and brown afterwards otherwise...well,remember the olympics and the Discus event.. @squire..yep,griddles rock!

Thanks folks I did them tonight using the foil/browning method and added an egg, mum had her favorite microchips (ugh), had some lettuce with them too and I am stuffed :P

They weren't very big but were quite thick but 30 minutes took care of it.

Cook them yourself and have both ....enjoy yourself and all low carb if you don't have chips etc.

I just tested and my Blood glucose level hardly budged, it was 5.0 pre meal and 5.6 two hours post meal. I had to look twice to be sure that was the reading.
