Hello
My name is Jason and I am 44. I have been diabetic type 2 for just over 8 years. My blood sugar levels have been totally all over the place recently. Never getting below 13 and often 25+. I was on metformin (excuse spelling) but 2 years ago it caused renal failure and I spent 3 months in hospital. And since they stopped Metformin my levels have been terrible. They have had me on Gliclazide and Pioglitazone (again excuse spelling). But this week my consultant has decided to stop them and put me onto insulin and bydureon. I am really unsure about this. Got to return to the hospital on the 8th for instruction on how to inject. I look forward to reading other peoples stories and hopefully can learn a few things along the way.

Welcome. My BS levels never changed at all on Metformin, and stayed high when I was put on Gliclazide, but I know why. I didn't do a single thing to change my lifestyle. My levels were up as high as yours, but since I've been following a low carb diet they have come down to normal levels. Have a look at the area of the forum about LCHF (low carb high fat). Lots of good info there.

hello and welcome
sorry that you have to go on insulin but hope that it works for you

Never good to be told you need to inject insulin but without it, you would be at high risk of future complications running at those high BG levels. The thought of injecting is often worse than actually doing it. Eventually what begins as a chore soon becomes habit. If you have any specific insulin related questions, please ask. Until then, good luck, Mo
