I'm in the Bridgend South wales area and wondering if there are child care workers with diabetes experience that you can hire, such as carers, nanny etc

Hi @richieswansea, welcome to the forum

I have no idea if you will get a carer specialising in one area only, there is care agencies that do care for children & adults with additional needs, I only have experience of this through having a child with autism but I never had a specific person trained in a single field or even extensively trained, they learned on the job like all care workers.

It can be very expensive, it’s 14 years since my son was a child and it was £14 per hour then. At the moment I pay upwards of £24 per hour. Maybe get in touch with social services and see if they can point you in the right direction. They have specific social workers in children’s services for kids with additional needs.

I did have for a short while, a young lady who was doing childcare at college and wanted some experience in working with children with special needs but I knew her quite well before I left her with my son & then only for a couple of hours
