Hi there, type2 for 10years, diabetes very strong in my family, my mum became type 1 in her 30s it's what got the better of her she died in 2004, my nan also , my sisters are type 2 we all thought we had got away with it but it caught us in our 40s.
I was able to control with diet for two years but have been on various doses and various tablets for the last eight, at the moment they may add a third different tablet as the glucopharge and glicazide are not working too good.so will see what they decide

Hi and welcome. Do bear in mind that some 'T2s' like myself are actually Late onset T1 and it sounds like that's a possibility with your family history. Many GPs don't understand this possibility. I went thru 3 level tablets and now on insulin. I started with Met, then Glic and then Sitagliptin but they all eventually failed. I actually prefer being on insulin as it makes eating easier so do push for insulin if the tablets can't control your blood sugar. There are two tests that can help diagnose Late onset T1 (LADA) but the treatment route is the same anyway. I assume you are keeping the carbs down which is the only way to help control blood suagr
 
Hello there, yes as much as I love carbs I try and restrict them my diet is pretty good and I'm not over weight I've tried to live a fairly healthy life but it kinda backfired on me with the diabetes and high blood pressure and high cholesterol so pop pills for all lol just gets me down a little when Blood glucose goes high , still on we ho hey.
