Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with T2 just before Christmas. Have been put on metformin to help with everything as have PCOS too. I've had the odd day here and there with a bit of an upset stomach but other than that (touch wood) I've been feeling pretty good... until now ☹️ I was stupid and had some pizza at work Friday lunchtime which I regretted that evening as was quite ill, then all weekend I've not been right, I did think I might have a cold coming Sunday as sinus pressure was really bad but then it cleared by Monday! Had my 2nd check up with the nurse yesterday morning and she gave me a pneumonia jab and I've now got bit of a fever which she said could happen but all last night I was basically on the loo :-/ now this morning my blood levels are reading 7.5 which is quite high for my morning readings (bought the SD codefree and have been testing for about a week) as they have been 5.5-6.5. If I do have a a cold or a bug could that cause higher readings?

Sorry for the long winded post but I'm still trying to understand everything.

welcome to the forum - for me I can tell I am getting a cold well before I see any cold type symptoms simply by getting unexplained increase in BG's - I think you will find that most people see elevated levels when dealing with bugs/colds etc - as frustrating as it is whilst you are trying to improve your levels, you just have to ride it out - not a lot you can do ! - I have only been diagnosed since August last year - I have had three minor colds since then - all of which gave me levels , and then quickly settled down again afterwards.
 
Yes. bugs and colds will raise my BG. It usually lets me know even before I get the symptoms !
Metformin could be causing your stomach upsets. If it carries on let your GP know and they can put you on a slow release version which is kinder to the stomach.
