Hi, I'm Meganne. I joined this forum yesterday, as I believe I may have prediabetes. I have had thrush on and off for years, and also my blood pressure was higher than normal, and I was gradually putting on weight. About two months ago I decided enough was enough. I have tried various diets in my life and have lost weight and then put on twice as much! I decided to cut out refined sugar (I was always a chocoholic, ice creamaholic, full sugar coke addict, dessert and sweet addict). I also cut out processed food. I refused to buy anything whose ingredients looked like a science experiment. I buy organic as much as I can. I have organic plain yoghurt sweetened with a little stevia, and drink PLJ in sparkling water sweetened with a little stevia. I even make my own ice cream using stevia instead of sugar. I'm losing weight slowly, and am not experiencing so much thrush itching. All good! I went to my doctors over a week ago for a prescription review, and I told him about my diet change, and how my blood pressure was lower now, and that I still needed some cream for the itch, but that my symptoms showed improvement. He decided to do a blood test foe glucose and cholesterol, my first ever tests for this! I was so surprised and disappointed that my fasting glucose test was 7.4! I dread to think what it would have been three months ago! I had a re-test a few days after and it's still 7.4! I am away from home at the minute until the end of November and I have made an appointment to see him on my return. He advised me to avoid refined sugar, which is what I've been doing! He advised me to see a doctor in Coventry if I felt unwell before then. I have the yeast infections, and am more tired than I used to be,and sleep for longer, but I am 61. My thirst has not increased, and I'm rarely hungry after meals. I have decided to get a monitor and see what's going on here. I'm also starting to exercise a bit. Am I doing the right things here? :? :?:
