:) Hi to everybody

I have just found this forum, whilst going through various web sites. I am a Brit, living in New Zealand.
I was diagnosed with then type 2 diabetes 20 years ago when I was in my late 30's and within 5 years, I was on insulin. So I now know that it is type1.5 DM.
I have other problems with the nerves in my feet and the nerves that work the bladder and urine system. Also some auto immune problems.
I keep cheerful and have a suportive wife and family, I am looking forward to being part of the community.
Thanks for reading this

Hi cottonwood,
Welcome to the forum.
Have you actually been told that you are Type 1.5? Plenty of Type 2's take insulin.
Hope the forum will be of help to you.

Hi Catherinecherub

When I was diagnosed it was on my discharge medical from the Army. The doctors were going to put me on insulin straight away, but then it was decided diet and medication. Strange decision as I was fit and my bmi was perfect. So I had five years of problems before my GP in the UK at the time made the decision to put me on insulin. I was able to control my blood gluclose level below 10 and now am in the 8 range. A blip every now and then.
Good blood sugar control, and having all my blood test levels within range, does not stop you getting neuropathy.
Also here in NZ they still use type one, and type two (overweight), ads and posters show very large Pacific Islanders as the role models. I do not fit into this category.

Thanks for the wishes
