Hi im Alyson I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes in 2001...I have struggled with years accepting my situation and didn't take my medication properly...I am on Metformin and Gliclazide...but unfortunately a lot of damage has been done...I am veing treated for Retinopathyand I am under a Podiatrist as I am losing all sensation in my toes,i also have to take Amatiptaline as my legs ache badly at night...so help me to relax and get some sleep...but they also make me very drowsy and sometime struggle to function until ate dinner time...but if I don't take them I suffer achy legs and get no sleep..so im in a no win situation...I am looking for a job but to v honest im not sure I will v able to hold down a job as I feel tired al the time.

Hi Alyson

Welcome

I ignored diabetes for ages. It was only after I started to lose sensation in my fingers I thought I had better do something about it.

I lost weight, changed what I ate and within a few weeks my fingers improved

I think food is a massive party for Type2s, probably more than medication.
