Hi all.
Having read the d/bêtes emails, thought I would contribute hopefully to the threads. I have been T2 for seven years, and as far as I can understand are coping well. Have never had upset stomach or side effects being on M/formin + statins. Plenty of flatulence/farts which have now reduced nicely being on a slow release dose. I am also on atorvastatin low dose every other day, but still get small cramps. My gp is adamant I need statins, although I don't have high cholesotrol. There is one issue though, I reckon I have become Lactose intolerant, so now use a combination of ordinary milk + lactose free. Anyone else same? Hope my grammar has not let me down.

Hi @notest15 and welcome to the forum. Glad you are coping with your diabetes.
I would ask for a breakdown of the components that make up cholesterol to discuss with your Dr.
There are other posters who cannot tolerate lactose and hopefully they will contribute.

Hello. I came off statins a few months ago after reading people's views on this forum and am waiting to see how my cholesterol is doing (should know next week). I feel very well. Avoid them if you can, perhaps, for now.
Several posters here endorse lactose free milk but there is a view that the lactase used to neutralise the lactose simply releases the glucose to continue cruising around in our blood. If that's true, if you're lactose intolerant it's a plus, but if you're diabetic it's a minus.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Definately have a discussion with your Dr about coming off statins as if you can do without them then thats great.
