'Newcastle diet' advice

Very pleased Newcastle diet is going well for you, rackellsie.
Please keep us updated.
Best wishes
Pipp
Thanks Pipp.

I actually went with the family to Alton Towers today and felt so much more energetic than few weeks ago. Although still very overweight I felt positive and less self-conscious. Was glad of the near stone loss when the barriers came down on some of the rides I can tell you! I froze my shake, which not only helped to keep everyone else's snaries cool, but tasted lush when shaken up like a crush drink.

Next goal to get confidence up to get in the swimming pool with my children and get back on a horse (without crushing the poor thing!) Actually think this diagnosis could have been exactly what I needed.

Hope everyone else is doing okay - I haven't quite got the just of threads backwards and forwards, but am aware that some regulars have been very poorly, So my best wishes to all.

For me the swimming pool and Newcastle diet saved my life.
Getting to the pool was daunting. I always loved swimming, but stopped going when I started to gain weight. I was fortunate that I was referred to a weight management clinic, and the doctor there was very in tune with the emotional barriers to exercise. She called my bluff when I said I would swim and arranged a weekly session for all of her obese patients. We had exclusive, private use of the pool just for obese people. Before too long I was confident enough to go to public sessions at the pool, and guess what. The so called normal weight people there also have far from 'perfect' bodies. I did, occasionally get strange looks or comments from people, but the problem is theirs not mine.
I exercise in the pool swimming and aquafit as often as I can because due to an accident I became disabled and most other exercise is not possible. In the water I am weightless and so much more mobile, I feel free.
Ok I will step off my soap box now. Sorry, I bang on about swimming and bore everyone on here. Not sure I could be enthusiastic about horse riding. I am allergic and one nasty one bit me once, but would say to you if that is one of your goals then plan for it. You will do it.
I am so glad that you have enjoyed a day out with your family. They grow up so quickly, and before you know it they don't want to be seen with you.

Sounds like you are doing brilliantly. Well done.

I've never been the same since a donkey ran away with me on Blackpool beach :-(

Peacetrain, you are as barmy as me. What the heck, I think you are high on endorphins! How are you managing to stay up so late and then go an teach those little darlings next morning? Plus all that lunchtime zumba! Whatever you are taking, I want some!

Where is everyone?
Just thought I'd check on you all and no posts here for over a week.
Hope you are all continuing to to well.

Now lost 62 lbs! Got into size 14 jeans today so very happy. But awaiting results from HbC1a test done a few days ago. So hope it is good news. Now, don't laugh! I can now do one hour on the treadmill, nearly 5k, and am thinking about doing a 10k next year to raise money for cancer research. I am trying to get as fit as possible before my surgery on 7th July, and hope this means that after a couple of days recuperation I can get back on the machine and not take too long to get back to where I was before the operation. I asked the surgeon how long I needed to avoid exercise, and he said I could do whatever I was comfortable with, but no hard running as although he could do brilliant internal stitches and the actual wound is glued (yes, glued!) together, and vigorous exercise might burst all his hard work. Ha ha! Has he met me? Hard running? Me? I think he was being funny.

You are doing so brilliantly well,@paulins. Especially considering everything else you have going on.

I am sure you will be in peak condition for the surgery. I probably won't be able to post for a while, going to a place where wifi and broadband are erratic, so wish you well, and will be thinking about you, and looking forward to hearing how you are recovering.
Be well

Thank you Pipp! What a lovely message. I hope you enjoy your trip, and I will definitely let you know how it goes. I just want it over now, as although in real terms I have not waited long it seems as if it has been months already. The next time we exchange messages I will hopefully be cancer free! I am determined to be positive and take this on in the same way as we have all been attacking our diabetes.
Yesterday I said to my sister that a cancer diagnosis was great for the diet. She was not amused!

Oh dear,I expect your sister is just very worried for you. I don't think everyone appreciates 'gallows' humour. Keep laughing.

Hi Pipp and Paulins, I am around but rather busy at work and now going on holiday :) Well done on the weight loss, I seem to have ground to a halt at 12st13lb and can't seem to shift it. However, I seem to be having to tighten my belt still so must be muscle growth. My newest trousers are now too big for me and I am on the penultimate extra hole I drilled in my very long belt (did 9 of them). Blood sugars still doing great and even after pie and chips I only see numbers in the 7s which I think is great.

Still got my fingers crossed for you paulins...

Oh and I have now joined amazon prime to watch all the movies and tv shows on there whilst on the treadmill
Currently re-watching the V seasons but have also bought the "4400" series on DVD

Andrew - what headphones did you buy for the treadmill? I have now bought and returned two wireless pairs - the first was only for radio (not clear from the description) and the second just would not work (and the TV is fairly new)! Am about to give up!

I bought fairly cheap ones from LIDL and a long extension cable from amazon. You quite often have to switch a modern TVs over to the headphones as it doesn't happen automatically.

Thank you - will try to get the same. Have a very good holiday.

Enjoy the hol. I think you can be proud of what you have achieved. Maybe weight is muscle?
After tomorrow I will be away, but I am happy to report weight is starting to fall again slightly. Using low carb method now. Gained weight at first, but now back to where I was 2 weeks ago. Just bought a BG meter today, as I think it wise to start testing for a couple of weeks to see if I am still keeping to acceptable levels now I am off Metformin. Some folks on another thread are coaxing me to try high sugar foods, but that would sabotage weight loss efforts, so I am not biting.
Not sure I will be able to get on line for a while, but wish you all well, and thanks for your support and encouragement.
Pipp

I like to think that weight is muscle - much better than it being fat! And that slower weight loss simply means increasing muscle. I am going to try to lose 4 lbs this week so I am UNDER 12 st before next Monday. So I have a week! How good would that be. I suspect that this will mean more time on the treadmill though so I have eaten some protein this weekend (chicken) to give my body some help with the energy it will need. Will let you know how this goes.

HbC1a results Thursday.

Oh yes! I'm sorry, I remember now.

Please don't push too hard to lose the 4lb before your surgery. You will need your strength.

I'm sorry, I read the post in isolation today, but had read the thread fully at other times. I know you are battling dear.
Best wishes for your future good health.
