Hello!

So, finally I've found out how to post a topic on here  haha!
Yesterday I went to see my nurse & asked her what does hba1c mean? & that I was seeing people mentioning it on here and it was leaving me clueless, so she explained. I've only got diagnosed in February this year & my hba1c in Feb was very high, I can't remember what she said they were, but because I mentioned it yesterday she said I'm actually due for another blood test to see what they are now, I had my result today and it's 6.7% (50mmol), which would be a non diabetics average hba1c! I never realized how well I'm actually handling everything and how controlled my sugars are :***:

Happy, happy, happy! :D

Well done, that's amazing! I was diagnosed in February too. My hba1c back then was 130, mid April it was still 72 (or there abouts!). So I e a bit more work to do to keep things in the right area.

I hope you keep your good control forever :)

Thank you! :'), you will get there eventually!, I'm not sure how I have to be honest haha!
I hope so too, thank you! (fingers crossed) :D

I think the honeymoon period is meant to help, but whatever you're doing is clearly working!

Hello and welcome

as you are just newly diagnosed, well done on BS result, you are obviously a natural already

Keep up the good work and take care

Best wishes RRB

Hi and well done. I don't want to dampen your spirits but 6.7% is towards the top end of a 'normal' person's HBa1C so you will need to continue the good work (good, reduced carb diet I assume?). Hopefully the next HBa1C will be even less. If not then further diet tweaking should help before meds are needed in the distant future.

Thank you!, yes I know but it's still a big improvement & am so happy with it :), I haven't reduced the carbs in my diet much, only a little. Yes hopefully, I will definitely keep up the good work :D

As a type 1 the OP is already on meds!

And 6.7 is **** good if reducing the risk of hypos. Everyone os different and has different needs. I got a telling off for an 8.5 hba1c and asked the diabetes nurse "Whilst my wife is working nights would you rather I had a hypo, ran a bath and put one of my small children in it?". This after an event of leaving a bath running for 3 hours and flooding the downstairs flat...
