Hi,

This is my first time posting on here as I was only diagnosed as type 1 the week before Christmas... I've found that when injecting in my thigh (outer and upper as advised) every few times it will be very painful with blood drawn - sort of like I've hit something I shouldn't have hit - is this normal or am I doing something wrong??? Also, there are bubbles now in both my lantus and novorapid disposable pens... Should I be concerned?

Thanks in advance for any help given!

Hi @J1998L, Sometimes you hit minor blood vessels. It's a hazard unfortunately. It may be a sign that you need shorter needles though. What length are you currently using?

Don't worry about bubbles in your pen cartridges. As long as there is a slight angle when you inject and the air bubble is at the plunger end as you do it, there is unlikely to be any issue with them.

Welcome to the club!

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm still getting used to all this but I'm kind of wishing my remaining insulin would just die so that I can settle down on some sort of routine!

Hi and welcome. I hit a small blood vessel fairly often when injecting into the thigh. I use the stomach for my Bolus as it reacts more quickly, so we are told, and it rarely hits any blood vessels. I use my thigh for the Basal.
