LADA
Hi,
I have been diagnosed with type 1 in last december with ketoacedosis and i have been on humalog 3 times per day,but for about half month after ketoacedosis i off insulin and my fasting was normal 5 mmol and 2 hour post prandial was also normal, about 5-6 mmol with large carb meal.one hour postprandial also with large carb about 6.5-8.5.i done c peptid and result was 338 (ref 160-1100pmol) and my antibodies was positive gad65 titer 105 and ia2 1680.also today my glucose is normal fasting and postprandial.so what u think will i develop type 1 and how that is my glucose normal c peptid normal but positive antibodies.

Will you eventually develop type 1? Yes
How long will it take to develop? It could take weeks, or it could take 30 years for you to lose all endogenous insulin production. It's impossible to estimate.

I first showed signs of diabetes 1.5 years ago, but I'm still not taking as much insulin as many of other members who have had T1 since they were children. 8 months ago, I was able to come off insulin completely (through an ultra low carb diet). Now, I take about 12-15 units a day (and remain on the same diet).

The nature of t1.5/LADA is that it's a slow autoimmune attack. Your pancreas may be producing less than it once did, but still enough to keep your levels normal. That will slowly (or rapidly) decline over time, but each person is different.

appreciate your time Torq.a u working antibody tests and a u on bolus or basal or both.am newbie so i need to learn a lot off about this in practice.but i read a lot off.
I hope bouth off us will have endogenous insulin lot off years :)
I live in por country and bad healty system so am little woried

I was diagnosed as having type 1, but given my 16+ month honeymoon period I don't think it would be off-base to consider me as 1.5/LADA.

Yes, I did have the antibody test and c-peptide tests done in September 2015 when I was diagnosed. The antibody test was ridiculously high, and my c-peptide was .7 ng/dL or around .22 nmol/L which was considered just below the "normal" range. I'm not sure what it is now, but it's definitely lower than before.

Yes, I am on a basal/bolus insulin plan and measure my doses by counting the carbs (and protein) that I eat. I now use Levemir and Novolog insulins, but I did try Humalog several months back (I had no problems with it). I've been on insulin since the day after I was diagnosed.

I live in the US and I'm very fortunate to have the level of healthcare that I do so I can't speak to living in a different country. However, my advice (if possible) is to always try to have as much supplies on hand as possible. It's better to have too much than too little.
