Hi
I posted a couple of weeks ago, having been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes with a fasting blood sugar of 7+ (sorry, can't remember what they said it was) A previous test (they called me back for repeat) was 6+. Doctor told me I was definitely Type 2 but asked me to have a Hb1ac done before I saw the diabetes nurse (tomorrow).
Having been given lots of useful information on this site, and having been testing my bs (and low carbing) I had more or less convinced myself that I was definitely Type 2. While my bs has not been higher than 10.2 at any time, it tends to be a bit higher all the time than non diabetic figures.
Low carb diet has resulted in a weight loss of 9.5lbs lost in three weeks, so I'm pleased with that and determined to continue. (I reckon I need to lose about 5 stone in all)
But today, ringing for my Hb1ac result from last week, I was told it was 'normal, no action required'. When I pursued it, I was told the result was 40.
Now I'm totally confused. Does anyone have any ideas about what the DN is likely to say? What I should say to her??
thanks in advance
Claire
