Newly Diagnosed - Partner Wants Second Opinion

My lancet is set to maximum 5. I sometimes have to try 3 or 4 fingers to even see a trace of blood. I have skin like a lady on my hands. At least the neuropathy stops it hurting:)

When I started testing in September I couldn't get a blood spot even at setting 5, so for the first three weeks I took the top off the spiker and just stuck the needle all the way in, and even then I had to work quite hard to coax a sufficient sample out (I'm on daily aspirin btw). However, for some reason now it's fine and I might try turning the setting down a bit. It's never been painful or scarred.

I understand the urge to not want diabetes lol But if you are getting readings like that you've probably got at least insulin resistance, so its best to take medication and get on an exercise and diet program. Dropping some weight and eating much less carbs can help you lower your resistance and since your border line it could get you back to the normal levels in a couple months.

However, you don't want to stop medication, levels of 6-9 are not normal, which means something is up, if you had no diabetes at all you could sit down and eat an entire cake and never have your levels go over 8 so i don't know what a second opinion is gonna get ya.

When you finger prick, don't pick the tips of your finger, pick the sides. ie - lay your hand down flat on a table, all fingers out, and look at it. See it? Good, you don't retinopathy lol but seriously now, only pick the parts of your finger that you can see (that means never pick the part with finger prints) and it will make things like typing and playing guitar much much better!
