Hi,

Just to introduce myself here on this forum.

3 weeks ago I came home from Turkey feeling rough, no sleep for 30hrs due to travelling, driving 2hrs from the airport and unbeknown having covid I went to the doctors to be told to go to A&E, 4 days later in hospital having recovered from the DKA with pretty bad blood results was officially diagnosed as T1D which was a great surprise and a bit distressing tbh.
I have a good family network and the nhs has been pretty good here, with a decent diet and starting slow with exercise my BG is well within limits (except treat night last night :) ) 81% of the time.
Still a tonne to learn, like having carbs and fat last night kept my BG high most of the night and then factoring exercise into the insulin calculations as well. I look forward to using the wealth of info here and the knowledgeable community make further process.

Anyway that’s me, pls ask anything and I look forward to being part of this forum.

Kind regards,

Hi @Mitchsi , welcome to the forum. :)

Not the way anyone likes to end a holiday.
But wonderful to hear you seem to be taking it all in your stride!

It takes time to learn and experiment to find the correct doses for you (and the correct dose is likely to change over time as well), and even after many years we have no idea what caused a low or a high sometimes.
But mostly we do, and with time you'll get better and better knowing what your diabetes needs!

I think you already know most of this, but I'll give you the link anyway, there are some very good points in clear words here: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/5-things-any-newly-diagnosed-type-1-should-know.175425/

Hi @Antje77 ,
No it out a dampener on the hol memory tbh but we’re trying to not let it ruin what was a great holiday, we still did everything including several dive trips.
I have dependants and I’ve had to come into this with a Ill get on top of this attitude.

Thanks for the link and reply, I’ll take a look. Cheers
