Newly diagnosed T2 trouble walking.

Husband struggling with what was assumed to be sciatica for 7 mths. Only affects one leg and only when walking. Seriously impeding mobility. Recently he was found to have high BG reading and now I’m worried this is a form of neuropathy. Issue is high leg/hip area. Has anyone else experienced this?

If it's only one leg and eases off when he's resting it's likely it's coming from his back rather than neuropathy. I don't have neuropathy but I'm guessing that would affect both legs equally starting with the toes and working towards. But if he's having sciatica symptoms he really needs to get checked out by the GP so that he can get a diagnosis and some interventions.

Thank you. He saw the GP only last month and that’s how he learned his BG was 52! He’s put on weight with not walking far so it’s a double whammy. He gets a MRI scan in 10 days but I’m interested to know if others have had this kind of problem. He definitely has some neuropathy as his toes sometimes burn.
The bright side is he’s actually accepted he needs to lose weight and made a good start at reducing carbs and no sweets even though we’re on holiday with grandkids! I can tell he’s already lost a few pounds but he’ll know when he gets on scales at home.

Yes I have had this on and off in my right leg for a long time, in my case it's confirmed sciatica from a bulge in a disc rubbing on the nerve. It flares up and gets better. At the moment I have no pain. When I do it's from the right side of my bottom down my leg. My hip bone aches too. It feels like toothache pain. Horrible.

Thank you. This pain/weakness is mostly after walking a short distance - 200 yards or less. Have you found anything that helps?

The only things that help are keeping moving and stretching- gently trying to touch my toes seems to loosen it up.
I think a proper diagnosis is the best thing though, then he can see what helps him.
