newly diagnosed t2

Newbie
hello i was diagnosed with t2 at the beginning of january and i am on 1500 mg of metformin daily i have had a headache for most of the week are headaches a common thing for t2 diabeties ?

Hi The only time I have had a headache is when my glucose levels are too low which to be honest is very rare for me. Do you have a blood glucose monitor to check your levels? Metformin has a lot of Gastro intestinal side effects and I was very Nauseous when it was prescribed for me so much so that I went on to the slow release type which are easier to tolerate. Remember we are all different and perhaps the Metformin is giving you the headaches if they continue I would contact the Diabetic nurse at your surgery for advice. Good luck

Hi !
I am type2 diet and exercise controlled - so I am not familiar with metformin or any side effects it might carry. Maybe someone else could inform you about whether or not metformin could be the culprit. As far as I have been aware, headaches have not been an issue for me, but others may be different. Headaches can be associated with so many things, like PMT, constipation ! , stress, dehydration ...... Food allergies. You name it.
One thing I do know though, is that if I was having headaches that last a week I would go to the doctor.
Hope this helps a bit.
