Newly diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes

Hi everyone!
I am currently living in Turkey and my mother-in-law (who lives with us) has just been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Unfortunately the support and advise from the doctors here is shockingly non-existent. I would welcome any advice as I am both frightened and nervous about administering the insulin and monitoring the diabetes. :( I am so glad I have found a forum where I can maybe get some advice. Look forward to hearing from anyone!

Hi
welcome to the forum! I am not on insulin myself even though i am a type 2!
It will feel weird for you having to do this! I am sure that there are lots of people who can help and give advice!
Why don't you post for some help in the ask the experts section!
as there will be lots of people who will offer advice! They are great here and very helpful!

Hi.
Welcome turkishd.

You are in the right place for advice and support. Have a good look around the forum at the different posts. Read the success stories. Take your time to let it all sink in.
Is your MIL already on Insulin ? Any previous diet or meds ? How was she diagnosed and at what levels ?

As you say the health care may not be the same as here in the UK but I would be surprised if there aren't specialists you could perhaps see out there for a second opinion. Seems one massive leap to start with if a T2.

Any questions - just fire away. Try not to stress yourself about things until you actually know what will happen. Then come back here for more advice.

Hope that helps.

Ken. :D

Thanks Sandy and Ken! I have asked on the 'Ask the Experts' thread. Just waiting to see if someone can help! I actually feel a little better knowing there are others in the same boat who are willing to offer advice. Thanks again. Fiona
