Hello everybody
Just popped in to say hello. I'm Pete age 70, (and almost 71 ) living in Swindon though originally from Preston .
I was diagnosed with Type 2 in Dec 2025 after being pre diabetic for 10 years or more.
So it came as a bit of a shock. I'm trying to curb my carb tendencies as I thought I ate pretty well on a vegetarian diet but I do (did) eat lots of potatoes and crisps etc and occasional sweets or chocolate.
I'll be keeping an eye on the dietary advice in the forum to pick up tips as i like cooking.
I had eye screening appointment last week and results show I have Stage 1 Retinopathy
Please say hi and add me as a friend (if you can do that on here)
I think to get me up and running i could benefit from a "Newbie's list of common foods to avoid at all cost" in descending order of being detrimental to Diabetic sugar levels . I'm sure there are lists of the type on line somewhere.
Regards
Pete
