I was diagnosed today with type 2 diabetes. I am 36 years old and have a BMI of around 56 so a lot of weight to lose, I've been struggling with binge eating disorder and finally have made it onto a waiting list for treatment. I was concerned because in November my hba1c was 46, on February 22nd it was 48 and my blood test taken on March the 4th was 51. Is it just me, or is that a rapid increase in average blood glucose levels??

It is really worrying me, I keep thinking it might be something more sinister if it is going up that fast.

Hi @lkbrown and welcome to the forum, I can’t comment on eating disorders as I don’t have experience to share. However I just wanted to say when I was first diagnosed my HbA1c was 67 followed by a 70 10 days later so no your figures don’t show anything ‘too fast’.

There isn't much between those numbers really although I get why going up is worrying you.
The numbers are still very low in terms of level. It's wouldn't be hard to get those down. I don't have ED experience but I can see how altering diet could be more difficult to reduce bg.
