Hi, I have been diagnosed 2 1/2 months with type 2 and on Metformin twice a day. I was told by my GP it may give me nausea for the first week or two but 10 weeks in and its making me ill. I have nausea, headaches, severe tummy cramps, fatigue, and i've been using the toilet ALOT more the day before yesterday i went SEVEN times and I mean a number 2 please tell me if this is normal? I have tried reducing it to one tablet a day but still same side affects all advice welcome. Thanks in advance xx

Hi and welcome to the forum I would suggest you speak with your GP and tell them about the side affects your having and request the slow release type as some people find they tolerate them better I will tag @daisy1 who can give you some useful info but if you have any questions just ask were always happy to help

Are you eating a lot of highish carbohydrate food? The carbs can react with metformin in your gut and may cause "gastric" issues too. But definitely see your GP for the SR version - you can't go on like that.
