Newly diagnosed type1 and pregnant.

Hi I am Lena 33 years old. I got diagnosed in September 2014 and feel pregnant October 2014;)-unexpected. Baby is due in june 2015.
I have been in a massiv shock about the diabetes and it hasn't really sunk in yet !
I find it a daily battle :(. My main are worry the complications diabetes can cause !!!
I have done a DAFNE course and started on the medtronic pump in January.
I have tried to find a support group near me county Durham but still searching.
Hope to find nice people to talk to on here.
 
Hi and welcome. Sorry to hear you are having to deal with diabetes whilst pregnant. AS long as your blood duagr is kep under reasonable control with the pump then you will probably never have to deal with long-term complications. It's those who ignore their condtion and follow poor NHS diet advice who have complications. As you will read on these forums, go easy on the carbs to avoid weight gain.
 
Hi Lena, congrats on your pregnancy! where abouts in County Durham are you? I'm in Middlesbrough. I've got a Medtronic pump too, had it about a year and love it! Just try to keep you bg's stable as possible, if you post in the pregnancy forum with any specific questions you might have the girls are all really lovely :)

Hi Abbie I am in Sedgefield ;-). Yeah the pump is great and makes it a bit easier? Are you under James Cook Hospital ? I am under Durham and they are fab.

Hey hun, aw I'm only down the road I'm in Stockton! I go to North tees, James Cook supposedly has a fab team but I really like my nurse at North tees so I'm happy ️ x
 
Haha Abbie I used t to work in Stockton/Fairfield lol.
I was under North Tees but moved over to Durham due to pregnancy. My team is fab too.
Let me know if you ever fancy a chat and a cuppa, cos we just down the road haha.x
 
Oh no way what a small world lol glad you have a good team helping you :) yeah I will do, sedgefield has some lush coffee shops ;) lol x
