Hi all been recently diagnosed and sent off to the internet for a blood glucose monitor which seems ok but the test strips are not the cheapest can anyone here recommend a reasonably cheap monitor that more importantly has cheaper test strips..
Thanks for any answers..

Here are some meters that are popular on the forum:

Taken from a post by @Bluetit1802 as she wrote it so nicely:

The most popular meters for self funding T2's are the Codefree and the Tee2 because the strips are much cheaper than other meters, and you need a lot of strips. You can't buy them in pharmacies.

Try here for the Codefree meter

and here for the extra strips

http://homehealth-uk.com/all-products/sd-codefree-test-strips-to-be-used-only-with-the-sd-monitor/

There are discount codes if you buy in bulk.

5 packs 264086

10 packs 975833 (makes a pack of 50 £5.98)

The Tee2 is here and the meter is free.

Don’t forget to check the box that you have diabetes so you can buy VAT free. (for either meter)

Sorry cant help with prices, but to give a guide for comparison purposes, here in spain a box of strips with 20 is 26 Euros!!!!!
ouch, how that compares with UK dont know, but everyone is spain pays for monitors, lancets and strips they are not provided free, unless ones diabetes is what they refer to TOP OF THE LADDER range, if your mid way or below, up to you to supply and pay for your testing facilities, having said that, the National Health service here in spain is amazing from care start during and end its impeccable regards backups and inhouse service in hospitals here in Mallorca is of highest excellence, unfortunately, cant say the regards their Diabetes system, that needs reviewed and updated without any doubt.

Hopefully UK has cheaper items than what diabetes are forced to pay here? Hope this assists in comparing.
